When Should I Schedule a Service Call?
There are several important factors to consider when determining whether or not you need service. Other than the obvious issues such as nothing coming on or your system not reaching the desired temperature, there are several other reasons as to why you should schedule a service call. Here are a few examples:
*If your outside condensing unit seems to be louder than normal, is shaking uncontrollably or making a knocking or hissing sound.
*If your furnace blower is running louder than normal or making a knocking sound, it is recommended that you schedule a service call as well.
While your HVAC system may continue to operate under these conditions, the items listed above are a sign that something is not quite right and should be addressed. By ignoring these things, what could potentially be a minor repair could result in the complete failure of your equipment. This is not an all-inclusive list either, just common occurrences that should be addressed. If you are under the impression that your equipment is acting out of the ordinary, please call us. We would love to help in any way possible even if it’s just a short consultation by phone to guide you in the right direction.
Where are you located?
We are located close to the intersection of Jones Road and FM 1960 in northwest Houston on Tower Oaks Blvd.
Do you do commercial work?
While we are willing and able to handle commercial work, our specialty and passion lies in retrofitting existing systems. If you are a prospective commercial customer, please call us for possible service. We will discuss what type of equipment you have and the access to it to determine how to best help you.
How long have you been in business?
Sterling Mechanical began in October of 1981.
What organizations are you a member of?
We are currently affiliated with Air Conditioning Contractors of America and the Better Business Bureau. ACCA named our company the National Residential Contractor of the Year in 2000. We have also been awarded the BBB Winner of Distinction Award for 2009-2015 and were named the Pinnacle Winner for our category in 2011.
Do you charge an hourly rate for repairs?
We do not charge hourly for repairs. We offer flat rate pricing which is a total price for the repair which includes parts, labor and warranties. You will no longer have to worry about what the price is going to be after the repair. You will be charged a diagnostic fee to travel to your home to determine the problem. This only covers diagnosing the problem, not repairing it. After a thorough diagnosis is performed, you will be informed of the cost of repairs. We promise not to make any repairs without prior approval. Many of our loyal customers have requested this pricing method. Rest assured that our pricing strategy remains value driven, as it has since 1981.
Do you offer any type of warranty on repairs?
Most parts come with a one year warranty on the part only. As a courtesy to our customers, we extend that warranty to two years and include labor as well. For example, if we replace a capacitor and the part malfunctions within two years from the date the repair was made the only cost you will incur is the diagnostic fee. We will replace the defective part at no charge to you and the warranty will now be the remainder of the original repair.
Do you provide free estimates?
We provide free estimates on equipment replacement within our service area. If you are outside of our service area, there will be a charge however that charge will be deducted from any approved work. If you would like us to diagnose your system and give you an option to repair, a diagnostic fee will apply.
What brands do you sell?
We sell American Standard equipment but are willing to provide you with any brand you prefer assuming we are able to. If you are interested in a brand other than American Standard, please call to discuss.
